planting    primroses

Dating back to medieval times, the Holy Well of St Anne's is steeped in history, and was once a place of great pilgrimage from as early as 1106. Throughout history there have been tales of people burying their belongings inside, with many gold coins and relics having been found at the site. This significant spot was also known for its mineral spring waters; this, with its reputation for healing, drew many pilgrims.

Coming together as a community, we gathered to decorate this sacred spot, and celebrate fresh, clean water and the coming of Spring, in accordance with the old custom of well-dressing. It was a joyous occasion!

Best feedback:

The bringing and planting of primroses by one neighbour; he is tending them well and they are growing by the well.

A spontaneous father and teenage daughter hug.
